Quotes from Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra, Vol. 1
“All of you should know that there are four kinds of dharmas: precept, concentration, wisdom, and liberation. If we do not hear and know about these four dharmas, we will be trapped in the ocean of transmigration for endless dark nights. If I had not heard of and comprehended these four dharmas over my previous lifetimes, I would not have been able to achieve the supreme and perfect enlightenment (anuttarā samyak-saṃbodhi) swiftly.”
